Born in Scotland and raised on the music of Robben Ford\, Matt Scofield\, and the great American blues tradition\, he developed a guitar technique that is immediately distinctive — tasteful\, subtle\, deeply soulful\, and technically extraordinary. His debut album\, released when he was just eighteen\, won the Scottish New Music Award in 2011. His subsequent albums have all been nominated for the British Blues Awards\, several years running. Originally built for drying hops\, it was saved from sale in the 1970s and converted into a thriving community centre run entirely by volunteers. That history gives the place a character that purpose-built venues simply can’t manufacture — exposed brickwork\, a sense of occasion\, and the kind of intimate atmosphere that puts you right in the room with the music.
