“The boy got thunder in his hands!” — Taj Mahal. Grammy Award-winning guitarist and blues legend Alvin Youngblood Hart brings his electric trio Muscle Theory to The Old Brewery Store, Faversham, for a night of raw, revelatory blues, roots and rock.

About Alvin Youngblood Hart

Born in Oakland and steeped in the Mississippi Delta tradition from childhood, Alvin Youngblood Hart is one of the most celebrated and versatile musicians of his generation — a man who doesn’t just play the blues, he lives it.

His film career reads like a roll-call of the greatest blues documentaries ever made. Alvin has appeared in Martin Scorsese’s The Blues: A Musical Journey, Wim Wenders’ The Soul of a Man and Robert Mugge’s Last of the Mississippi Jukes, and has performed solo acoustic on Later with Jools Holland.

Most recently, Alvin contributed to Ryan Coogler’s Oscar-nominated blues drama Sinners (2025), starring Michael B. Jordan and set in 1932 Clarksdale, Mississippi. He wrote and contributed “Travelin'” to the soundtrack and performed Charley Patton’s “Pony Blues” in the film, recording alongside Buddy Guy, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Bobby Rush and Brittany Howard at the legendary Royal Studios in Memphis.

With Muscle Theory, his electric trio, Hart turns up the volume — a heavyweight blend of Delta blues, Southern rock and roots that shows exactly why critics struggle to put him in a box.

Mojo magazine called him “dizzyingly versatile.”

Guitar Player noted that he “transcends labels and genres.”

The Independent simply declared that his “eclecticism puts him in a class of his own.”
