Chicago rock ‘n’ roll with the blues running through its veins. Formed in 1998, The Steepwater Band bring more than 25 years of road miles, soulful songwriting and twin-guitar fire to The Old Brewery Store, Faversham, as part of their January 2027 European tour.

About The Steepwater Band

Formed in Chicago in 1998, The Steepwater Band take their name from a cargo ship that frontman Jeff Massey spotted in port on Lake Michigan. They started out playing their own takes on electric Chicago-style blues, and quickly moved on to writing their own gritty, soulful, guitar-driven rock.

More than two decades on, they have built a reputation as one of America’s most electrifying live bands. Along the way they have played the Chicago Blues Festival many times, toured Europe again and again, shared bills with Gov’t Mule, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and Cheap Trick, and opened for Bon Jovi at a sold-out United Center.

Their catalogue runs to eight studio albums, including Grace and Melody (produced by former Black Crowes guitarist Marc Ford), Shake Your Faith, Turn of the Wheel and Return of the Wheel. Their songs have also turned up on screen, from One for the Money and Disney’s Invincible to Friday Night Lights and Deadliest Catch.

Today’s line-up has Jeff Massey and Eric Saylors trading guitar licks and vocals over the rhythm section of Joe Winters (drums) and Joe Bishop (bass): classic rock, blues and roots, delivered with a modern edge.
