John Doe Trio Live at The Oast Rainham Kent — THEIR FAREWELL SHOW
All good things must come to an end — and this is it for John Doe Trio
Formed in Kent in 2013, John Doe Trio built their reputation the old-fashioned way — playing hard, playing honest, and letting the music do the talking.
Fronted by guitarist and vocalist Phil Woollett alongside drummer Paul Townsend, the trio released their debut album Stranger in 2016 and followed it with the acclaimed Railroaded in 2020, both featuring original bassist Craig Ferguson. After Craig’s departure, Phil’s son Ben Woollett stepped in to complete the current lineup — and the band went on to record their third album JD III in 2025.
Described by Blues in Britain Magazine as “a seriously tight-knit power trio of excellent musicians,” they have wowed audiences at blues clubs and festivals the length and breadth of the country with their raw, powerful, deeply authentic sound. Three albums. Countless shows. A dedicated following that grew one unforgettable gig at a time.
Now, after more than a decade on the British blues circuit, they’re drawing the curtain — and we’re honoured to be hosting their final ever show live at The Oast, Rainham, Kent. The Oast is one of Rainham’s most iconic buildings — constructed in the early 1870s by the Wakeley Brothers, it has overlooked Rainham station for over a century. Originally built for drying hops, it was saved from sale in the 1970s and converted into a thriving community centre run entirely by volunteers.
That history gives the place a character that purpose-built venues simply can’t manufacture — exposed brickwork, a sense of occasion, and the kind of intimate atmosphere that puts you right in the room with the music. The venue sits directly adjacent to Rainham Station with parking at the rear — easy to get to, easy to get home from. This event will be held in the top room of The Oast, Rainham, Kent.
