Rockin’ Roots Events is proud to announce that four-time UK Blues Award winner Oli “Mississippi” MacDonald is returning to Mycenae House for an intimate evening of world-class Memphis soul and blues. MacDonald is one of the most celebrated figures in British blues. His sound is rooted in the deep traditions of Memphis soul and Southern R&B — warm, authoritative, and alive with feeling. Championed by Mojo magazine and featured on Cerys Matthews’ BBC Radio 2 Blues show, his reputation on both sides of the Atlantic continues to grow with every release.
His 2023 album Heavy State Loving Blues spent two consecutive months at number one on the IBBA Blues Chart and made the Living Blues top 25. His October 2024 single I Got What You Need hit number one on the RMR Global Soul Blues Chart within a week of release and topped the IBBA chart the following month. His 2025 acoustic trio record Oli Mac Presents: Slim Pickin’ earned a five-star review from RnR Magazine and went straight to number one in the RMR Acoustic Blues category.
Oli’s relationship with Memphis runs deep. He has recorded at the legendary Royal Studios — home of Al Green, Ann Peebles, and Otis Clay — with Grammy-winning producer Boo Mitchell (son of the great Willie Mitchell) and the iconic Hi Rhythm section. In July 2026 he released his most recent work: the You Got To Call Me EP, recorded live with Hi Rhythm at Royal Studios — three sides of pure Memphis soul straight from the source.
He has also shared the stage with Carla Thomas at the Memphis Soul Revue at the Barbican, London (2025).
